100 x 200 seems to be pretty common for new rinks.  In addition to the
hockey issues, it's better for figure skating and can be used for short
track speed skating.

And I agree with you about some of the prep school facilities relative to
some colleges.  In fact, with the number of teams that Belmont Hill has, I'm
surprised that they don't have two rinks.  Some schools (Groton, Exeter, for
example) do.  My high school son had a game last night at a MIDDLE school
that has two rinks.
