In response to John's comment about a shifting priority from attendance
to avoid intra-conference matchups:
I don't see it that way. You may quarrel about the decision - that's
fine - but I don't think priorities have "shifted again."
It has always been a weighing of a lesser of two evils type of thing.
Some years it's decided one is worse, other years, the other is worse.
It depends on each situation and how much the seeds have to be altered
to get the desired affect.
It was probably the committee's thinking that sending BC west, while
hurting attendace, it would help the intra-conference thing and was
least intrusive to respective seedings.
All of those factors are equally weighed.
