I was in attendance at the championship rally held this past Sunday. I
thought it was really classy for Marty Turco to talk about the senior
tradition started last year by Morrison and company. Billy Muckalt could
have left before this season and accepted a contract with the Canucks. It
would have been easy for him to do, nine seniors leaving, ten freshman
coming in. No one thought this season would be very successful compared to
last, yet he choose to put the NHL on hold for a year and stay in Ann
Arbor. I'm very happy for him, to see the success he has had this year and
for him to end his college career on such a high note. I don't mean to
imply that staying for four years is unique to Michigan, but with many of
the big stars of other college sports leaving early, I think it is
something special for a guy to hold his coach and team so highly that he
doesn't want to leave.
