> As an afterthought, Cornell did go undefeated in 69-70, but RPI again
beat
> Cornell to end their streak in December 1970.
Yes, RPI did appear to "have Cornell's number", if anyone did, during what
is statistically the greatest protracted period of dominance in NCAA
history. That Ned Harkness had won an NCAA title at RPI prior to winning
two at Cornell only fueled the rivalry.
Comparison of Cornell's record and result vs. RPI:
Year Record Result vs. RPI
----- -------- ----------------
1967 27-1-1 W 7-2 at RPI
1968 27-2-0 W 8-1 Lynah
1969 27-2-0 L 3-4 at RPI
1970 29-0-0 W 8-1 Lynah
1971 1-1-0* L 3-6 at RPI
* first 2 games of season.
So, over a period of 118 games, Cornell was 111-6-1:
3-2-0 vs RPI
108-4-1 vs the rest of the NCAA
Other non-wins:
1967: L 3-4 Yale at Lynah
1967: T 3-3 vs. BU Boston Arena Christmas Tourny
1968: L 3-6 at Brown
1968: L 1-3 vs. North Dakota in NCAA SF
1969: L 3-4 vs. Denver in NCAA Championship)
