The recent CCHA contract deal with Fox Sports Detroit brought about some
concern amongst Hockey-L'ers about whether or not they would get the
channel in their cable/dish service. Here's some more information about
Fox Sports Detroit as noted in today's Ann Arbor News (for the full story,
see http://aa.mlive.com/sports/foxpass.htm ).

Fox Sports Detroit has acquired from PASS the rights to broadcast Detroit
Pistons games starting this season and Detroit Tigers games starting with
next season. Fox Sports Detroit already owns the rights to broadcast
Detroit Red Wings games. Effectively, once the current baseball season is
over, PASS (a Prime Network affiliate) will no longer have any major sports
contracts and is expected to fold soon after.

Fox Sports Detroit is planning to begin broadcasting on September 17, to
coincide with the Red Wings' first exhibition game.

Fox's CCHA package debuts Oct. 31.

For readers in the Ann Arbor area, the article notes that Fox Sports
Detroit has successfully negotiated a deal with Ameritech's Americast cable
service (serving Plymouth and Canton) and is currently negotiating with
MediaOne (serving Ann Arbor and other cities in the area).

Thanks to the Ann Arbor News for this information.
