While you can compare the salaries of professors- the revenue sport coaches-
football & mens basketball will always be paid more and have more pressure to
deal with- look at the # of assistants that basketball has compared to
hockey. the marketplace also dictates higher salaries.
 
One more note for the football bashers- besides the pure $ of football- no
sport has the visibility of football and affects alumni donations more. I
think the # of scholarships could be reduced without reducing the # of
players- we would thankfully have more "walk-ons" and spread the talent
around- but that's another issue. Consider- eliminate all athletic
scholarships- anyone care to speculate on that? The ECAC would be helped.
