There are a few college hockey dark agers who remember what I think was the
highest scoring league tournament of all time. I think we went over the
details last year on HOCKEY-L but UNH beat Cornell in 2OT, 10-9, in one
semi-final and BU came from 3 goals down with less than 6 minutes to play
to upend Clarkson 6-5 (I think). I remember vividly that our gang from UNH
decided to bail out of the BU game with about 5 minutes to go so that we
could eat in Chinatown. We're stuck in traffic down there when one of oUr
guys screamed out his car window that BU had won. Unbelievable. The next
night UNH & BU were tied 6-6 after two, with the Terriers pulling away in
the third for the 8-6 final. UNH and BU then went to the NCAA's where they
both lost one goal games (UNH in OT to Wisconsin) in the semis and then
played a 7-6 game (BU winning of course) IN THE consolation.

Although I'm not assuming anything when UNH plays CC, a match between UNH
and Clarkson in the regional finals would be like seeing the Cubs and the
Red Sox in the World Series. The game may take 5 overtimes.
