Regarding President Silber's appearance, I'm going to post it to the list
because I was as shocked as Steve regarding the tone of the interview. I kept
waiting for Mr Silber to crack a smile to the reporter after giving her a hard
time, but it never happened.

BTW, My jaw was open at the end of the interview Steve.

For those who didn't see the interview, the reporter and Silber got into an
exchange regarding the fact that the WABU crew was wearing Tuxes to celebrate
the first Beanpot in the new Fleet Center. The gist of the discussion was
Silber berating the reporter, saying 'What are you doing in a tux ? Hockey is
a game of the people. I'm a man of the people. .. It would be an improvement
if you people lost the tuxes for the next Beanpot.' The tone was NOT in joking
manner.

Not knowing Mr (Dr?) Silber - I can't really say if it was just an act. If it
was, I didn't get it and I doubt the rest of the public did either. My own
advice to him is to lighten up, it was just an interview at the Beanpot, not a
political spotlight.

Joe Betergna also made a comment in the studio afterwords 'Was that Don
Rickles or Prez. Silber ? He's a tough interview'. One other note, the report
(don't know her name) was a MODEL of professional courtesy. She gracefully
handled every nasty overtone to what Silber said - I was extremely impressed.
She should probably get a raise..
