I really do not want to get into another BU-Maine war on the list,
but I do have some questions about Shawn Walsh and comments he has
made.

As many of you know, some Maine fans posted that on of the Maine
papers called BU captain Jacques Joubert 'two-faced' for making an
inflammatory comment to a Sorts Illustrated reporter after BU's win over
Minnesota in the semifinals. It was claimed Jacques was 'two-faced'
because he made the comment to the SI reporter, knowing it could not
be printed until after the championship game.

So what does this have to do with Shawn Walsh? Today I read this on
Hockey-L about the OSU job:

> Geiger did not reveal the names of the two finalists, but they are
>among five who were interviewed last week by an athletic department
>search committee.
>
> The five are Maine coach Shawn Walsh, whose team won the NCAA title in 1993
> and lost in the final this year, Northern Michigan coach Rick Comley, Union
> (N.Y.) coach Bruce Delventhal, former North Dakota coach John "Gino"
> Gasparini and OSU interim coach John Markell.

I take his to mean that Shawn Walsh applied to OSU for the head
coaching job, probably before the NCAA Championship weekend in
Providence. Yet in the _Maine Sunday Telegram_ on 2 April, in
regards to whether he'll return next year with the NCAA investigation
pending, he is quoted as saying, "Absolutely. I love our
recruiting class and I can't wait to get going again."

So, my questionas are:

1) Was Shawn Walsh lying when he answered the question about
returning to Maine (i.e, 'being two-faced')?
2) When did he apply for the OSU job?
3) If he really wants to stay at Maine, than why did he apply to OSU
in the first place?
4) What do those in Maine think about Walsh applying for the OSU job?
5) What have the papers in Maine reported about it?
6) Have the papers in Maine call Walsh 'two-faced'?

I am not calling Shawn Walsh 'two-faced', but I am very interested
how the papers in Maine are dealing with Walsh's words and actions in
the past two plus weeks. They called Bu's captain 'two-faced', have
also called Walsh 'two-faced' for apparently lying to them? Or is
O.K. to hurl charges at BU players (and coaches), but not Walsh and
Maine players and coaches?
