Message:
The UMASS playoff win over BC is their first playoff game and first
playoff victory since the 1973-74 season ! As many of you may know,
the program was a thriving Division II program in the late 60's -
early 70's, culminating in the Div II Championship in '72 ....only to
be cut in 1979 due to state budgetary constraints and lack of vision
by an athletic administration that was average at best. My hat's off
to Coach Mallen and his staff for an outstanding job in making the
step up to Hockey East.  Granted, the BC program is down right now,
but this is a step forward for UMASS and should provide a boost of
confidence as they travel to Orono.
