Since it is almost time for hockey to start up, I am once again attempting to
put together a Division II-III team information file. There is already a file
for Division I put together by Jim Teresco that provides information for all
of the Division I schools with the most important part being directions to the
rinks where the hockey teams play.

I decided at the end of last season to create such a reference file for the
DivII-III schools (as well as those Div. I teams that compete in these
leagues which I will copy from the Div. I team info file). I think this will
be helpful as people have occasionally asked where certain schools were so
they can travel to see a game.

I only got a few responses then, so now I am sending this note out again.
This time it is also going to Hockey-L as well as hockey3 since many folks on
Hockey-L may be able to help out with the various schools even if they do not
read hockey3.

As of now, I have included everybody which means the ECAC South/Central/North
teams as well. I do not know whether they will remain in the same file (if it
gets too large) or be eliminated altogether (I get no information for them).

I am going to list them in alphabetical order since some people may not know
what leagues certain teams play in, so this will probably be the easiest way
to look them up. Any comments will be accepted. Also, to our Western friends
I am listing the Wisconsin schools as Wisc.-{whatever} instead of
UW-{whatever}. Is this acceptable, or do people refer to them more often as
UW-{whatever} or something else? I want to make it as easy as possible for
somebody to look up a particular school. Please respond with your
suggestions.

What I need from everybody is information to put into this file. Below you
will find a template, and I put instructions in square brackets. I will
periodically update everybody concerning what schools I still need info on.

I have already done Potsdam (gee, what a surprise :-) ), and could probably do
most of the Western NY schools, but for now I will leave that for somebody
who may be more familiar with those and can give better information. Don't be
afraid to provide too much information, I can always edit stuff out, but I can
never add something when I don't know what I should be adding.

I have listed all the schools, but if there is an asterisk next to a school,
it means I already have information for that school. You can still send me
info for that school -- I may be missing something that you can provide.
(I actually have basic facts for every school, but what I REALLY need is
directions to those schools which do not have an asterisk next to them.)

Respond to me privately ([log in to unmask]). Let's NOT hog up the list
while I compile the file. It will be available to everyone when it is near
completion, and it will also be archived. Do not send me any listings for
club teams as that is another endeavor somebody else can do.

Thanks in advance for all your help.

TEMPLATE:

{Name of School} [Replace this with the name of the school most people refer
                  to it as.]

School Name: [The official complete (long version) name of the school. For
example, Brockport State is officially, the State University of
              New York/College at Brockport.]
Nickname : [First give the official nickname of the school, and then if
there is any other name the hockey team goes by. For example,
Geneseo goes by Blue Knights, and the hockey team is called the
              Ice Knights.]
Colors :
Location : [Town and State where the primary campus is located.]

League Affiliation: [List all league affiliations for the hockey team. For
example, the SUNY schools belong to SUNYAC *and* ECAC.]

Name of Home Rink:
Capacity: Dimensions: [of the ice surface]

Phone for ticket info: [List more than one if necessary. State the owners of
the phone numbers, i.e., ticket office, athletic dept]
Ticket Availability: [This is probably not an issue for Div. III. Just state
if there are any problems. Otherwise, I'll omit this]
Sports Hotline Number: [Some schools have a phone hotline that you can call to
get up to date results. If the school has one, please
                        provide it.]

Directions: [To the rink itself -- especially if it is off campus. Be as
detailed as you wish; this is the meat of the file. Try to give
instructions coming from different directions if appropriate.]

Information Provided By: [Please give your complete name and valid email
address. This is so you can get proper credit in the
file, and most importantly so people know who to
contact in case they have further questions.
Also, provide parking tips, if that is a problem.]
