Just for clarification...Gerald "Spike" Schultz of North Dakota posted four
straight shutouts over Michigan Tech (5-0 and 5-0 at Tech on Jan. 14-15, 1954)
and (4-0 and 7-0 at North Dakota on Jan. 28-29, 1954).  I have no documented
proof that this is the NCAA record.  Maybe tomorrow I will run over to the
library here and see if I can find the stories on microfilm from old Grand
Forks Heralds.
 
Anyway, it's a fantastic accomplishment for Lacher.  Lake Superior would
appear to quietly be maybe the hottest team in the country right now.  (I say
"quietly" because I hardly ever see anything on the Lakers on hockey-l or
anywhere else for that matter).
