Brown had its third four-point weekend of the season, with victories
over Dartmouth (4-3) and Vermont (2-1). Although Brown hasn't been too
exciting offensively, the Bears just keep on winning. Brown has only lost
two games in the ECAC (both in overtime). The other two losses (non-
league) were also by one goal (including an overtime loss to Miami).
 
For last night's game against Vermont Brown dressed six freshmen, all of
whom played well. (In fact, Brown's most exciting line as of late has been
the all-freshman line of Scott Bradford at center, with Rob Merrill and
Mike Noble on the wings.) Freshman Bill McKay (a smooth-skating defenseman)
got his first goal of the season, and freshman Marty Clapton got two
assists, while playing very smart hockey. The Bears must start using their
speed, however, to generate more shots on goal. (If the refs would only
call more interference penalties to discourage the annoying AND BORING
clutching-and-grabbing that has become rampant in the ECAC!)
 
Brown plays no ECAC games until February 4 (at Yale) and February 5 (at
Princeton), although it has a non-league game against Lowell on January
25.
