This brings up a question I have been meaning to ask.  The following situation
I saw twice.  Once a few years ago in a college game between Potsdam and
Oswego, and a second time at a high school game just a few weeks ago.  A
player goes in on a breakaway and gets hurled down from behind.  In both cases
a penalty shot was called -- certainly not unreasonable.  However, in both
cases, the opposing coach yelled bloody murder at the refs.  The reason?
Because the player, despite being pulled down, still got a shot off on goal
that the goalie had to save.  Would getting a shot off negate, "preventing a
reasonable scoring opportunity"?  Or were these coaches just grabbing at
straws?
