In a New Year's Day tilt on Saturday, the top team in DivII,
Alabama-Huntsville, hosted and defeated DivI Merrimack, 7-5. UAH
improved to 11-1-1, according to the paper. Merrimack dropped to
7-8-1 (now 8-8-1 after this afternoon's 5-0 win - no details yet).

UAH scored four times in the first to take a 4-2 lead. Lance West got
the Chargers on the board by scoring just 14 seconds into the game.

Merrimack's Claudio Peca brought the Warriors within one at 4-3, 13:21
of the second, but that would be as close as it would get. Graham
Fair, who would finish with a hat trick for UAH, got that one back and
the score was 5-3 entering the third. Garry Symons made it 6-3 before
Rob Beck (two goals on the night) cut it to 6-4, then Mario Mazzuca
(UAH) and Dan Hodge (Merrimack) swapped goals for the 7-5 final.
Merrimack outshot UAH 44-26; Derek Puppa turned aside 39 shots in the
UAH net while Martin Legault had 19 saves for Merrimack.

Merrimack won the second game of the set today (1/2/94), 5-0, but the
score is all I know right now.

Happy 1994, all...
