Speaking as both a devoted college hockey fan and a devoted BU
fan, I think that this is an outrage. If the information posted
earlier was accurate, Cal was actually 1 credit short of eligibility
but that fact was obscured by essentially an accounting error.
That earlier post also indicated that had he been given accurate
information, he could have taken a course to make up that 1 credit.
If this is all true, I cannot believe that this penalty is being
invoked *long* after the fact. Rules are fine, and we all know of
cases in which schools and players may need to be brought into line.
However this strikes me as extreme. If the rule is such that no
discretion may be exercised, then damn it, that rule must be changed.
I want BU to paste Maine and rank at the top as much as anyone,
but I don't want to do it this way.
