Boston Native and MTU assistant coach Mark Leach has accepted a similar
position at Boston College. Head Coach Bob Mancini said the search is already
on for Mark's replacement. Mark has been the Huskies chief recruiter since
he was hired by Newell Brown in 1990. Mark cited the chance to work near home
as the main reason for heading for Boston College. Mark says his father has
been ill for about 3 years and this gives him a chance to be near him. Mark's
Brother Stephen plays for the Boston Bruins and another brother Jay coaches
the Springfield (mass) Wahlers of the AHL. Mark said he did a great deal of
traveling, but wants to develope more as an on ice coach, in order to reach
his goal of becoming a div I coach. He cited that BC draws most of its
players from the Boston area and he won't have to be on the road so much,
allowing him to see the team play and get invoilved in on ice situations.

The BC job opened up when Joe Mallen accepted the head coaches job at the
University of Mass.

We're gonna miss Mark here at MTU. This is definatly BU's gain. Having known
Mark for a few years now, I can say BC is getting quality material.

Good Luck Mark!

Bob
