I think the reason that Brown doesn't get a lot of respect may be because they
haven't had any phenomenally good games, at least that is the impression I get.
They play well enough to win, but this year that isn't hard to do in the ECAC.
Other than Harvard and RPI, the rest of Brown's opponents have either had an
up and down season or have been consistently bad.  I have only seen Brown when
they have played Cornell, and neither time were they a team that deserved
respect.  In Ithaca, they were horrible, but that isn't a problem against the
Red this year.  As for the game in Providence, well, they lost to Cornell which
makes them a member of a very small club.
 
If they want conference wide respect, they will have to come out of the North
Country games with at least one win, something that is never easy to do.
