I have found the national TV listing at Inside College Hockey to
be fairly comprehensive.
http://insidecollegehockey.com/1Schedules/schedules_tv.htm

The one 'network' it doesn't list is the NHL Network which has
carried some college games in the past. Last season the NHL
Network carried a game live on Friday night in the US. Saturday
night's college game was live only in Canada and then rebroadcast
in the US at noon on Sunday.

The NHL Network hasn't announced their schedule for this season
yet, but for this Saturday they list an "Encore presentation" of
Northeastern at New Hampshire at 12PM eastern.

I presume you have the same package I got with Verizon FIOS in
RI.
You should check out the Fox Sports Channels for hockey from
Michigan,
Wisconsin, Denver, North Dakota and Minnesota. There are also
games on ESPNU
(watched BC vs. UVM on Sunday night), Hockey East games on NESN
when there
are no conflicts with Bruins or Celtics, week end games on CBS
College
Sports (formerly CSTV), and a few games on the NHL network. Not
sure if
Comcast carries the Big Ten sports network but FIOS does and I
believe they
will start carrying games between Big Ten teams later this year.

As you found out, you can't believe them when it says live on the
screen but
you should be able to use a composite schedule from USCHO to tell
which
games are live and which are rebroadcasts.
