Here we are on the eve of the new season and the discussion list has yet to
show signs of life.

What's happened since last season? There really hasn't been much news since
the Bemidji, UNO agreement with the WCHA and the Alabama-Huntsville, CCHA
non agreement.

I see today where the ECAC has decided to move their tournament to Atlantic
City from Albany. That's a disappointment to me since I always went to the
tournament in Albany, when I lived nearby and planned to drive back in the
spring to get my hockey fix. Now, with the tournament in New Jersey, the 1
hour drive up I-95 to Boston to the HEA tournament looks pretty good.
You can't really blame the ECAC; attendance was poor at the tournament. RPI
and Union would be big draws but never advanced that far. Clarkson is a
big draw but not always there. The only thing that saved the ECAC the past
few years is Cornell's repeated success. When Cornell showed up, several
thousand fans would be there with them. And there's no reason to think that
Cornell fans will not drive to New Jersey for games. Other than Princeton,
I'm not sure the same can be said for the other ECAC teams.
But I guess the ECAC gets their "take" guaranteed by the casinos and, if no
one shows up, its the casinos who take the hit.
Welcome to Capitalism 101.

So what is happening around the leagues? Are there any significant rule
changes this year we should be aware of?
