It was my understanding, and I thought I read here on hockey-l, that
the tournament could not be bracketed all the way to the championship
game. The four teams going to Albany would be paired up as highest
remaining east seed vs. lowest remaining west seed, and highest remaining
west seed vs. lowest remaining east seed.
 
I can't remember who provided that information, but if that is the case
it would be impossible to draw these tournament brackets that I've been
seeing.
