I have always been puzzled by the description of the event, particurlarly
given a quote from Tom Vanelli from Minnesota:

[Answer to most memorable game] "The 1976 national championship
game against Tech. I was the MVP of the series. The game before there
was a bench-clearing brawl, and Russ Anderson and I got ejected from
the game."

Assuming his memory correct then he must be referring to the Boston
game. I don't see that typically commented on. AS I mentioned last year,
as a tactic, having your MVP kicked out of the game along with the goon
would not seem to be a very effective one.
