Brown improved it's seasonal record at Meehan Auditorium to 6-1-2
enroute to a 5-2 decision over Colgate this evening. The Bears thereby
maintain their 4th place position in the ECAC standings (currently tied with
Dartmouth and Union) and solidify their claim for recognition as a NCAA
'team under consideration' in the national rankings with an overall record
of 11-10-3 (9-7-2 ECAC).

The Raiders raced out to an early lead with goals at 3:28 (PPG) and 5:02
of the opening period before Brown roared back with five unanswered goals
during the balance of the game to claim the victory. Bears' Junior
defenseman Scott Ford scored a powerplay goal at 7:54 of the first stanza
assisted by junior forward Brent Robinson and senior defenseman Paul Esdale,
and then Esdale tied the game at 19:45 assisted by sophomore forward Les
Haggett and Brent Robinson. Freshman forward Rugo Santini gave Brown the
lead, 3-2, at 6:54 of the second period with his first goal of the season
assisted by sophomore forward Chris Swon and junior forward Pascal Denis.
Les Haggett tallied at 18:50 built a two-goal margin with assists from Brent
Robinson and sophomore defenseman Gerry Burke, and senior forward Jason
Wilson closed out the scoring with a goal at 10:43 of the final stanza
assisted by senior forward Chris Legg and junior defenseman Vince Macri.

On the horizon is next weekend's visit to Northern New England for games
with Vermont at the Gutterson Arena (Fri.) and with Dartmouth at Thompson
Arena (Sat.). Both these opponents are playing their best hockey of the
year right now and will be coming off this weekend's sweeps on their home
ice, so the Bears will need to muster all their skill to continue their
quest of a first-round bye and home ice advantage in the upcoming ECAC
Championship Tournament.

Brown's stretch run has produced a 2-1-1 record thus far in the month of
February and the Bears will return to Meehan Auditorium for the final
conference weekend to host St. Lawrence (Fri., Feb. 28) and Clarkson (Sat.,
Mar. 1).
