The Brown Bears got another shutout performance from their goaltender
and tallied three more powerplay goals (seven of their last eight goals have
been scored with a man-advantage) and coasted past the Iona Gaels, 4-0, in a
game played this evening at Meehan Auditorium.

It is interesting to note that it was not standout junior goaler Yann
Danis who blanked the opposition tonight, because sophomore netminder Scott
Rowan was given the start and made the most of it -- Rowan had posted an
earlier victory against the University of Manitoba in the Subway Holiday
Classic at the Engelstad Arena in Grand Forks, ND last month. He made a
game total of 22 saves tonight while Iona goaltender Mike Fraser stopped 31
Bear shots.

The Bears' leading scorer, sophomore forward Les Haggett (2 goals, 2
assists) and junior forward Brent Robinson (1 goal, 2 assists) both
continued to add to their point totals, while senior defenseman Scott Ford
(1 goal, 1 assist), senior forward Keith Kirley (2 assists) and senior
defenseman Paul Esdale (1 assist) also figured in the scoring column.

Brown continued its undefeated streak during the month of January by
posting a fourth consecutive win and stands at 4-0-1 in 2003 and 7-1-2 in
Meehan Auditorium for the season. Tonight's shutout is the fourth of the
season for the Brown goaltending corps.

The Bears (7-5-1 overall; 9-6-2 ECAC) now look forward to their road
trip to Volpe Arena on Saturday to meet the Merrimack Warriors, followed by
the annual Mayor's Cup Game against Providence College at Meehan next
Tuesday evening. Both games are 7:00 p.m. starts and represent the last
non-conference games of the season for Brown.
