Good write up on USCHO of UNH 2-1 OT win over UMass-Amherst in Durham last
night; rematch tonight in Amherst. I believe that I heard Bob Norton say
on the Ch. 11 broadcast that Ed Caron was returning to UNH this spring
semester, and could resume his hockey career at UNH in January 2004. Ed
left UNH for Yale last summer at the end of his freshman year; I believe
that I read somewhere that he was looking for a greater academic
challenge. He will have missed three semesters of college hockey, but I am
wondering if he could stay on to make up some of that ice time as a
graduate student? I believe that Ed pulled a 4.0 in a business major his
freshman year, uprooting senior Dave Busch, who had held the UNH hockey
scholar-athlete award the previous three years. UNH certainly could have
used Ed's size (6'5") around the net this season, much as they really
missed Garrett Stafford's offensive skills from the blue line this past
fall semester because of academic inelligibility (a snafu with a summer
course transfer). Go Cats!
