UMass-Lowell 7, Northeastern 2
UNH 5, Merrimack 2
Remaining Games: Sat 2/29 Merr @ BU; PC @ Maine; UMass-Lowell @ UNH
Sun 3/1 BC @ NU
Hockey East Standings with 1 game left:
1F *Maine 16-2-2 34
2H New Hampshire 12-6-2 24
3H Providence 11-7-2 24
4 Boston University 9-7-4 22
5 Boston College 9-9-2 20
6 *UMass-Lowell 6-10-4 16
7 *Northeastern 5-15-0 10
8 *Merrimack 4-16-0 8
*-Maine and the bottom three teams will all finish in the spots they are in.
BU: clinches home ice with at least a tie against Merrimack or if BC does
not beat Northeastern. BU cannot finish higher than 4th. BU finishes
5th if it loses to Merrimack and BC beats NU.
NH: finishes 2nd if it does not finish tied with PC, else it finishes 3rd.
PC: finishes 2nd if it beats Maine; if it ties Maine and UNH does not beat
Lowell; or if it loses to Maine and UNH loses to Lowell. Else PC
finishes 3rd.
BC: finishes 4th with home ice if BU loses to Merrimack and BC beats NU
on Sunday. Else BC finishes 5th. Either way BC plays BU in the q-final.
Playoffs: PC hosts Lowell or NU on Fri 3/6 (7 pm)
UNH hosts Lowell or NU on Sun 3/8 (2 pm)
Maine hosts Merrimack on Sat 3/7 (7 pm) or Sun 3/8 (7 pm)
BU hosts BC on Sat 3/7 (7 pm) OR BC hosts BU on Sun 3/8 (7 pm)
BC's building is in use on Sat 3/7 (BC hoop team hosts UConn), so if it
gains home ice it will play on Sun 3/8 and Maine plays on Sat 3/7. Else
BU plays on Sat 3/7 and Maine plays on Sun 3/8.
I believe all the above is correct.
One full box score from Friday, the big BC-BU game, since the box was
faxed to Merrimack. BU has to be concerned since they are 0-2-1 against
BC this season, and they will play them in the playoffs one way or another.
