Friday at Houston Field House, Troy, NY (Attendance: 2,910)
Trailing 1-2 with 5:42 remaining in the third period, the Brown Bears
capitalized on a Rensselaer slashing penalty when sophomore Shane Mudryk
scored a game-tying goal 0:59 into the ensuing power play, and the two teams
remained deadlocked through overtime. Brown sophomore Pascal Denis' goal at
9:19 of the first period had forged an earlier tie in the game at 1-1. The
Bears also carried another power play advantage into the overtime session
and had three excellent chances to post a victory, but Mudryk, junior Keith
Kirley and freshman Mike Meech were unable to dent Engineer goaltender Kevin
Kurk who had a game total of 19 saves. Bear sophomore netminder Yann Danis
made 32 saves.

Saturday at Achilles Rink, Schenectady, NY (Attendance: 1,517)
Forced to play catch-up most of the evening, the Bears pulled to within
a goal at 1-2 on senior captain Josh Barker's power play marker at 9:32 of
the second period. But 21 seconds later, Union's Jordy Federko fired a
wrist shot over Yann Danis' glove to re-establish a two-goal margin for the
Dutchmen and break what appeared to be a momentum swing in the Bears' favor.
Sophomore Brent Robinson's tally 1:22 into the third period moved Brown to
within one again, but the Bears failed in an attempt to duplicate the
previous evening's score-tying heroics when Danis was pulled for an extra
attacker in the final minute of play. Union's Brandon Snee was credited
with 22 saves and Danis ended with 31 saves on the night.

Brown returns to Meehan Auditorium next weekend to play Yale (Fri.) and
Princeton (Sat.), the only remaining conference opponents scheduled during
the month of January. The results of these two pivotal games will go a long
way in determining where Brown will be positioned in the ECAC standings when
the Bears resume conference play on the first weekend of February.
