In the early days of the mailing list, the default reply was to the
list.

What we saw was an uncomfortable amount of (intended) private responses
being distributed to the list. Of course, our readers/writers are
smarter and more experienced now. If a significant number of our
frequent contributors wanted the change, knowing there would be some
unintentional posts, I would consider the change, but I'm not in favor
of it.

However, you all should know that there is no one standard way for e-
mail client software to create reply mail. Whereas your e-mail client
may allow you to reply to any of "Reply-To:", "From:", "Sender:",
"To:", etc., others are not so flexible. Indeed, some people don't see
all of the fields and some even see switched fields. The situation is
much better than it was a decade ago, but is still not wonderful or nor
even easy. For example, using Shift-R in my primary e-mail client is
how one replies with a canned response (template).

Mandatory hockey (semi-)content: USCO's Dave Hendrickson picked BC
over Maine twice last weekend. It didn't happen as Maine took 3 of 4
points in a weekend where both teams played very hard, and referee Jeff
Bunyan in large "let them play". IMHO fans witnessed two of the better
offensive players in college hockey with BC's Tony Voce and Maine's
Colin Shields. Both, as one local reporter is prone to say, "can put
the biscuit in the basket".

Hockey-L: from "dirth" to "bounty". Way to go, Tom Rowe. Hope to see
you at the Hockey-L dinner in April!

Hope this helps, wayne
