Union picked up its first ECAC win of the season on a solid effort to
defeat Princeton, 3-1, Friday night in Schenectady. Union's goals
came from Doug Christainsen, who put in the rebound of a Jason Kean
shot from the blue line on the power play in thr first, Matt
Vagvolgyi, on a rebound following a long scramble around Princeton
goalie Dave Stathos in the second, and Jeff Wilson, who carried in on
a 3 on 1, held on until the last moment, then beat Stathos with a
perfect shot inside the far post to the stick side, also on the
second. Brandon Snee had another strong game in goal, helped out by
his defense clearing away some dangerous rebounds. Union's ability to
break up Princeton rushes through center ice, especially late in the
game, was an important factor in this one. I thought Randy Dagenais
had an especially strong game on defense for Union.

Union is 1-2-1 in the ECAC, 4-4-3 overall. Yale visits Achilles on
Saturday after losing to RPI on Friday. Princeton will be in Troy.
