Fairbanks 1 0 2 3
USAFA 1 0 0 1

Fairbanks outplayed air force badly in the first, but got only one
goal as falcon netminder Mark Liebich was again outstanding. Air
force got the equalizer late in the period on a 5 on 3 advantage.

The second was scoreless and the play was a bit more even. Air force
couldn't convert their power plays again.

Fairbanks got the eventual winner 12 seconds into the third on a power
play. A clearing pass was caught in the midsection by a nanook who
then slid about 40 feet towards the net on the puck, got up and slapped the
puck home. Air force put on lots of pressure, but couldn't get the
equalizer. In the last 5 minutes, referee buzz christianson (who
generally had a good night) swallowed his whistle, but had to call
one against air force that he really couldn't let go by with 90 seconds
to go. Fairbanks got the final tally on the ensuing power play.

Tomorrow, Falcon coach delich will lead the hockey alums in the annual
alumni game. In the past, it was always against the JV, but with the
elimination of the JV program, he'll be leading the alums against his
5th & 6th lines and the 7th thru 10th defenders.

The nanooks then play the varsity at 5:00 followed by a basketball
game.
