I'm very pleased to see the rising interest in college hockey in the Boston
area. More seasoned veteran fans may be more objective and could possibly
remember a time where it got as much or more coverage, but its been pretty
awesome the last few weeks. I don't know if the record crowds at the Fleet
Center for the awesome HockeyEast semifinals were the trigger or not.

The Boston Globe has done a fair job this year, publishing a few features a
month on various teams/players as well as decent game coverage although it
was understandably limited to local teams. The Maine/UNH series got some
decent coverage and each team got a few features throughout the year.

But, the last two weeks have been great! Every day there has been double
feature articles on HockeyEast and today is no exception. The links below
are for feature stories on Darren Haydar and the BC resurgence going back to
the BU/Merrimack weekend to end the season. These are worth the visit.

I have no doubt that Providence should be a huge success next year,
especially if HockeyEast continues its dominance of Div. 1 hockey. We have
the luxury of having so many fans in such a small area that any eastern
representation would nearly guarantee very little ticket unloading once the
Final-4 is set.
