in a two hour and 37 minute marathon, in a game that wasn't as close as
the score indicated, in colorado college's last home game at the air
force's cadet ice arena, and in a game worthy of the chiefs/syracuse
playoff game, colorado college demolished denver university.

Scoring Penalties Time
FIRST PERIOD
CC struck on their first rush down the ice, and it seemed like the
goal was an omen of a long night for the pioneers.
G1-CC DARREN CLARK 8 (Brent Voorhees 2, Justin Morrison 3) 0:51
when DU returned the favor, there was speculation that there'd be
as many points as in the denver - pittsburgh football game.
Little did we know that there's be more penalty minutes than
        football points
G2-DU ANDERS BJORK 2 (Joe Ritson 3, Shawn Kurulak 6) 1:33
                P1-DU Ryan Hacker (2-slashing) 3:14
                P2-DU Joe Murphy (2-roughing) 6:11
CC converted their second power play opportunity.
G3-CC BRIAN SWANSON 6 (Calvin Elfring 9, Jason Gudmundson 6) 5-on-4 PPG 8:04
CC struck again in rapid fashion
G4-CC T.J. TANBERG 5 (Justin Morrison 4, Aaron Karpan 9) 8:25
and the game started to get a bit chippy. There was a fracas 180
feet away from this viewer that was really reminiscent of the
professional game. Referee mike schmidt could have easily given
out majors for fighting or misconducts, but he chose instead to
hand out 34 minutes worth of minors, filling the sin bin to
        overflowing.

                P3-DU Joe Casey (2-roughing) 10:07
                P4-DU Joe Casey (2-roughing) 10:07

                P6-DU Bjorn Engstrom (2-roughing) 10:07
                P7-DU Mike Dairon (2-roughing) 10:07
                P8-DU Mike Dairon (2-roughing) 10:07
                P9-DU Joe Murphy (2-roughing) 10:07
                P10-DU Joe Murphy (2-roughing) 10:07
                P11-CC K.J. Voorhees (2-cross checking) 10:07
                P12-CC K.J. Voorhees (2-roughing) 10:07
                P13-CC K.J. Voorhees (2-roughing) 10:07
                P14-CC Scott Swanson (2-roughing) 10:07
                P15-CC Scott Swanson (2-roughing) 10:07

                P18-CC Berk Nelson (2-roughing) 10:07
                P19-CC Berk Nelson (2-roughing) 10:07
It didn't take too long for denver to realize it was slipping
away, and they began taking the cheap shots...
                P20-DU James Patterson (2-slashing) 12:36
again the second one cost denver again
                P21-DU Todd Kidd (2-roughing) 15:14
G5-CC BRIAN SWANSON 7 (T.J. Tanberg 5, Jason Gudmundson 7) 5-on-4 PPG 16:04
freshman justin morrison retalliated to a whole lot of mugging
going on, and as per usual, the retaliation was called
                P22-CC Justin Morrison (2-elbowing) 16:45
                P23-DU Paul Comrie (2-hooking) 17:42
and we finally made it to the bathroom break.

SECOND PERIOD
cc improved its lead in a typical "We Clutch and Hold Always" kind
        of period.
                P24-DU Ryan Hacker (2-holding) 3:55
G6-CC T.J. TANBERG 6 (Jason Gudmundson 8) 7:09
                P25-CC Dan Peters (2-hooking) 7:23
                P26-DU Jon Newman (2-holding) 10:23
                P27-CC Stewart Bodtker (2-unsportsmanlike conduct) 10:58
G7-CC TOBY PETERSEN 5 (Scott Swanson 9) 4-on-4 11:16
G8-CC BRENT VOORHEES 1 (Cam Kryway 7, K.J. Voorhees 7) 11:27
                P28-DU Joe Ritson (2-roughing) 19:11

THIRD PERIOD
we had a skirmish early on
                P29-DU Paul Comrie (2-roughing) 1:03
                P30-CC Brent Voorhees (2-roughing) 1:03
toby took exception to the fist in the face
                P31-DU Jon Newman (2-roughing) 4:35
                P32-CC Toby Petersen (2-slashing) 4:35
                P33-DU Paul Comrie (2-tripping) 5:59
        cc gets another power play
G9-CC AARON KARPAN 5 (Justin Morrison 5, Calvin Elfring 10) 5-on-4 PPG 7:03
                P34-CC Stewart Bodtker (2-slashing) 9:43
another 9 calls result from DU taking a run at Zulianello
                P35-DU James Patterson (2-checking the goaltender) 10:34
                P36-DU James Patterson (2-roughing) 10:34

                P43-CC Calvin Elfring (2-roughing) 10:34
and finally the score that chased the Denver goalie
G10-CC AARON KARPAN 6 (Jason Gudmundson 9, Cam Kryway 8) 11:05
The sequence here actually was... Denver switches goalies, denver
calls time out, and CC switches goalies.
                        Time out Denver 11:05
