Colorado College finally broke their losing streak at home tonight,
defeating Alaska Anchorage 3-1 at the Cadet Ice Arena. The game had few
penalties, with both teams combining for a total of 9, and shots were
fairly even, with the Tigers outshooting the Seawolves 27-22.

The first period was a good one for the Tigers. Only 2 and a half minutes
in, Jason Gudmundson put in the first of CC's tallies past goaltender Doug
Teskey. The Tigers were able to hold onto the lead and not give up a quick
goal, as they have been prone to do at times. 10:20 later CC doubled the
lead. At first it was thought Calvin Elfring shot it in from near the blue
line, but a few minutes later it was found that Stewart Bodtker tipped it
in for his third goal of the year. No penalties were called in the first
period, so it went by pretty quickly and the Tigers went to the locker
room ahead 2-0.

The Seawolves came out flying at the beginning of the second period and
cut the lead in half 2 minutes in on a goal by Chris Pont, his first of
the year. CC looked like they had taken a nap during intermission and not
quite woken up, as they skated slower and made some bad passes right to
the Alaska Anchorage players. Each team got two power plays this period,
but neither was able to convert on the man advantage. The Tigers still
held onto their lead at the end of two at 2-1.

A couple of more penalties early in the third period, but still no power
play goals. CC regained their two goal lead at 11:41 when Toby Petersen
put in his third of the season. Unfortunately the Tigers gave Anchorage a
power play 7 seconds later, but they were able to kill it off. Not too
much excitement after that until 38 seconds left in the game when
coincidental roughings were handed out to two players.

Same two teams tomorrow night.
