Saturday night at Bright the Harvard Crimson lost to the Bulldogs of Yale 1-3.
Yale pressed Harvard for much of the game and produced a fine road win. The
Crimson looked dispirited and did not play like a team.

The game started slowly. As the players warmed to the contest, Yale started
to crank it up. The Elis scored a 5 on 3 power play goal when Daryl Jones
(Ray Giroux) was open at the side of the net. Seconds later, on a 5 on 4
power play, Jeff Hamilton (Matt Cumming, Jones) made it 0-2 Yale when his
blast from the left circle beat Prestifilippo at the near post.

In the second, Harvard put on some sustained pressure. Rob Millar (Clayton
Rodgers, Trevor Allman) got a power play goal when he took the puck out of a
pile in the corner, drifted to the slot and roofed his shot. However for the
most part, the Elis weathered the Crimson storm. Harvard was not playing in
unison.

The final period was nondescript. Yale applied more of the pressure and had a
penalty shot saved by Harvard. In the dying seconds, the Elis got an empty-
net goal from Geoff Kufta (John Chyz).

Yale coach Tim Taylor has his team all on the same page. It is easy to see
why they have made such a nice start in the ECAC league. The man of the match
was defender Jeff Glew. His commanding presence on the blue line held the
team together. Glew is a dynamic skater and a real treat to watch. Jones and
Giroux are a great defensive pairing. Their range is tremendous. Up front,
Hamilton led linemates Cumming and Ben Stafford in a variety of attacks. They
played extremely well as a unit. Kufta, and mates Chyz and Keith McCullough
were the other line that gave the Crimson fits. Kufta has fine speed and some
marvelous shifts. Overall, Yale is going to be a tough team to play this
year.

Harvard played poorly. I do not know why the team couldn't get it together
tonight. Friday evening they played very well against Princeton. They seem
dysfunctional at the moment. It was a night of individuals for the Crimson.
Millar and Craig Adams did their thing, and produced some results. Steve
Moore is so close to doing something special. His mate, Chris Bala was the
best looking Harvard forward. He excelled again on his power play duties and
even provided good checking on his line. S. Moore and Bala will click soon.
On defense, Ben Storey had another fine match. He is clearly the team leader.
Geordie Hyland and Graham Morrell were a good blue line pair combining hitting
with mobility. Overall the team has problems.
