Cheryl Morris asked about Leor Shtrom vs Trevor Koenig at Union. It is
nice to have two very good goalies. Trevor had a lot of publicity last
year for his well earned All American award for a fine season. Leor played
a few games and showed he was a good goalie and capable of being as good as
Trevor - IMHO. In the Dartmouth game the Union defense left Koenig pretty
vulnerable, and he did the best he could in difficult circumstances. The
previous night against UVM, the Union defense was in the game, providing
lots of help. They did not do as well against RPI.

The Dutchmen are a young team and it may take a while to come together,
since they are used to varying styles and strategies. It may be an up and
down season with a good performance one night and a lackluster one in the
next game. RPI had a similar situation last year, but at some point about
mid-season they got it together and began playing well. I hope Union can
do that as well. In spite of the lopsided shots on goal in the RPI game 50
to 20, the new Union players are not hesitant to shoot, and this should
begin to make a difference. Last year Union had a great defense, but an
anemic offense, being near the bottom in goals scored. We are doing much
better in that department this year.

The annual game at the Pepsi Arena will always be a tough one and a great
rivalry similar to the one the schools have in football for the Dutchmen's
"shoes" trophy. The Pepsi Arena game will have the "skates" award, which
went to RPI this year. This kind of rivalry is fun for the whole area.
By the way RPI won the "shoes" also, so they made a clean sweep this year.
