The North Dakota Fighting Sioux came out on top in the second game of
     the weekend with the Minnesota Gophers, in a score of 3-2.
 
     The game was another well-fought contest with both teams really
     looking pretty good.  The Gophers scored just 7 seconds into the
     contest as North Dakota mishandled the puck near thier own blue line
     after the opening face off.  The Gopher player picked up the loose
     puck and skated in on Swietzer and put the puck past him.  This
     obviously gave them and the home crowd a lot to cheer about right off
     the bat.  But, the Sioux didn't appear to let it phase them.  In fact,
     I feel they dominated play overall in the remainder of the scoreless
     first period.   UMN 1, UND 0.
 
     The second period saw each team get their chances, but noone was able
     to get one past the netminder.  End of 2 - UMN 1, UND 0.
 
     The third period was another exciting one with plenty of action.  The
     Sioux tied it up about a third of the way through period 3, and then
     added a second goal shortly thereafter, once again, less than 2
     minutes apart.  Minnesota was able to re-tie the game with about 8
     minutes to play, but then UND's Curtis Murphy took a breakaway and put
     it behind DeBus for the game-winner.
 
     It will be fun to watch these teams this season...both will be right
     in the thick of things.
