The Brown women downed the North York Jr Aeros 12-3 in a Friday night
exhibition at Meehan Auditorium.

Quick summary: Brown looked horrible through the first period, but I'm
willing to chalk it up to first-period-of-the-season jitters. NY's
forecheck was good, and Brown kept trying to make too many low-percentage
passes through traffic, too impatient. It was 1-1 at the end of the first
(Brown tied it up late) but Brown came out like a totally different team
in the second and blew it open once they calmed down. NY was tired by the
third period, but they're not used to these 60 minute games, either.

First impressions: The first-years look good if rough around the edges.
All five had points; four had at least one goal. They need some work,
obviously, but in the third period the all-freshman line of Kathleen
Kauth, Christine Sorbara and Patricia Long was probably the strongest. Of
them all I think I like Kauth and Cara Gardner the best on Forward and D,
respectively. Kauth is strong and can put on some nice moves. Gardner is
an offensive defenseman (shades of Becky Kellar '97) and is quick enough
to pull it all off. All in all I think there is potential here.

Tuesday at 6:00PM they'll take on TUSAW at Meehan.
