Jayson's post about Niagara's status is only half-correct.  Niagara
is in the ECAC/West, but that doesn't make the team DIII.  ECAC/West
is an un-typical conference, as it includes teams from all 3
divisions:
 
DI      Canisius, Niagara
DII     Mercyhurst
DIII    RIT, Elmira, Hobart
 
Canisius & Niagara have in the past not been eligible for the DI
playoffs because they haven't played enough games against DI
teams.  But Mercyhurst has been eligible for the DII
championship.
 
I'll leave it to someone else to answer whether
Niagara's games against DI opponents count in their DI ratings this
year.
