the tuesday system really did bite. consider that if the team that won on
tues went to a full three-game series, then by sunday night that had played
6 games in 10 nights!
 
one alternative, of course, would be to have the 7/10, 8/9 play-in on a
weekend of its own, either as a single or a 3-game (no 2-game total goals
please),  this would also allow players on the 1-6 to rest a week and
recover from injuries before the playoffs.  it would add a week to the ECAC
PS, which means they'd need to find an extra week to compress the RS.  but i
still think the best plan is to go back to an 8 team field.  it's not that
much to ask that a team crack .400 to make the playoffs.
