An interesting note on the soon-to-be MAAC Hockey League. Apparently this will be the only D-1 league in college hockey which will have official standing with the NCAA overall body. All the other hockey conferences are single sport conferences and thus do not have this kind of standing or representation. Not being an expert (or even slightly knowledgeable) about NCAA structure, I don't know the implications of this situation. Perhaps someone who is knowledgeable (as opposed to the many of us who would like to speculate) might give us a comment? Perhaps having standing before the parent body may give them a bit more influence in arguing for a sixteen team tournament? (Here I too am guilty of speculating:-)
