Seems to me that the talk of "obnoxious" or "idiotic" or "arrogant"
Michigan and/or BU and/or whatever fans that has been all the rage here
lately has gone on too long. I believe that people who leave hockey
games when their team is losing or don't show up if their team isn't
godlike are not true fans. They are bandwagoners. Every winning team
has its share. This has always been the case. In New York, there's a
bunch of people who were wearing Mets jackets in 1986 that are now wearing
Yankees jackets in 1997. If the Yankees slump, they will put the jacket
away and not give any clue to their "allegiance" to their team. It
happens in all sports. One can not blame them for their "idiocy". It's
not their fault. They don't know better about truly loving a team or a
game. Whenever I go to a Cornell hockey game, I see people who follow
everyone else and are generally completely confused. When I hear people
behind me grumbling about why the ref blew the whistle on an icing, I
find it's my "job" to explain it. If these people learn to enjoy the
game, they will come back next year, whether the team is good or not.
Back to my original train of thought. Saying "all Michigan fans
suck" or "BU fans are all arrogant" is a gross generalization that is
CLEARLY false. By saying something like that, it shows that the poster
is the arrogant, obnoxious one, not the people whom they are
criticizing.

As for Morrison's comments, I actually find it refreshing.
Morrison said the best team doesn't always win. Was he wrong? Of course
not. Therefore, how can you possibly persecute him for stating the
truth. Michigan was the best team this year. They lost in the
tournament and will never be remembered as the 1997 national champions,
because they weren't. However, they were the best team this year. In
this age of political correctness, Morrison's bluntness is a welcome
change for me.

Onto the apparent exodus of non-seniors at Michigan (can someone
give a confirmation of this, or is it just rumored?). Seems to me that
things can't get all that much better for the 3 players leaving. They
won the championship last year and were in the Final 4 this year. The
team will be losing a bunch (8?) players to graduation and even if the
others had returned, repeating what the Wolverines have accomplished the
past 2 seasons would have been very difficult. The 3 non-seniors must
have realized this and I would think that impacted their decision.

Send any flames to me, since I am getting very annoyed and
reading personal flames on this list. If you want to call me an idiot,
do it to me, not the list.
