Maybe, but I've seen numbers like this bandied about for a number of good teams.
Cornell, for example, was 17-0-1 when leading after two periods (though it was
feast or famine for the Big Red, who were 0-6-1 when *trailing* after two). I
believe Clarkson and Miami, to name a couple others, had similar performances. I
suspect it boils down to this: if you're a good team, you *shouldn't* be
blowing leads in the third period.

J. Michael Neal has already mentioned Minnesota turning the trick in 1995.
Actually, it's sort of an off year when the Phinal Phour consists of all bye
teams. In 1994, Lake Superior knocked off Northeastern and Michigan to make the
Phinal Phour, and the Lakers went on to win it all. In 1992, the first year of
the regional format, three of the four bye teams went down in the quarterfinals,
as Lake Superior beat Minnesota, Michigan State knocked off Maine, and Wisconsin
got by St. Lawrence. Michigan was the only bye team in the Phinal Phour that
year, and they only beat Northern Michigan by one goal. That year, by the way,
was the only one in which teams that won the first round got a day off before
playing the rested bye teams in the quarterfinals. Since three of the four bye
teams were upset that year, we'll probably never see that extra day of rest
again.
