It wasn't only TV that was having trouble with Tymchyshyn's name. I was
listening to the radio broadcast of the second and third period of the game as
I left Placid on Friday and the local broadcasters absolutely butchered his
name. Hopefully a 'quality' TV station like ESPN will do some more research if
they make Milwaukee (although judging from some of the pronunciations of hockey
players I've heard on Sportscenter, don't bet the ranch on it).

This bugged me too, but it's probably not their fault. The Cornell media guide,
in its "Pronunciation" section, actually *says* that "TIM-a-chin" is the way to
pronounce Darren's last name. Which it is not. The announcers could have done
a bit more research, I guess, but you're not supposed to have to second-guess a
media guide.
