I agree, the game was a big bore.  It's hard for an RPI crowd to get
enthusiastic for a game played so poorly by the Engineers.  The passing was
pathetic, as was the stickhandling; the turnovers were inexcusable.  I
wouldn't blame the ice; the Rats and the rest of the AHL do just fine
although curiously enough the night before was only a 1-1 tie between the
Rats and Adirondack.
I also agree that although this game was a dud, RPI needs to get experience
playing in large arenas so they DON'T look so overwhelmed when they do.
Perhaps having the Christmas tournament at the Knick with better corporate
sponsorship will provide enough money to invite  good opponents from the
western conferences plus perhaps schools such as Clarkson or SLU which have
rather large followings in the Capital District is the answer.
