Catching up on old e-mail and I don't think this was ever answered ....

This is an educated guess -- a simple call to Maine could confirm this, but
nevertheless -- I'm assuming this arises from the elimination of Maine's
exemption for playing Dalhousie in their own J.C. Penney Classic.
The sanctions included the elimination of this exemption toward their games
limit. Maine was exploring other things it could do, but apparently it must
have decided that the only thing it could really do was pull out of the Denver
Cup.
Just an educated guess, but it makes sense. Someone could probably confirm
this quicker than I, but I'll check it out.
