Here's the complete listing for the ECAC coaches poll along with some
interesting information regarding last year's poll.

5. Colgate 96
6. Cornell 85

10. Dartmouth 37
11. Union 28
12. Yale 16
1995 ECAC PRESEASON POLL WITH 95-96 FINISH
1. Vermont(5) 134 1
2. Colgate(4) 130 5
3. Harvard(2) 123 6
4. Clarkson(1) 117 2
5. Rensellaer 83 7(tie)
6. Brown 76 7(tie)
7. SLU 67 3
8. Princeton 63 10
9. Cornell 61 4
10. Union 39 11
11. Dartmouth 20 9
12. Yale 20 12
Note the format of the poll. No coach can vote for his team as the first place
team. First place votes are in parentheses. Teams receive 12 points for a
first place vote, 11 for second, etc. Vermont finished with 143 points (a 2nd
place vote from UVM's coach). Clarkson received at least 8 of the 11 remaining
second place votes. Yale received just 16 votes, which means that at least 8
coaches picked the Bulldogs to finish last.
If anyone cares, I'll have to add my picks and 2 cents:
Team 95 Poll 95-96 Finish 96 Poll
1. Vermont 1 1 1
2. Clarkson 4 2 2
3. SLU 7 3 4
4. Colgate 2 5 5
5. Harvard 3 6 3
6. Cornell 9 4 6
7. RPI 5 7 7
8. Brown 6 7 8
9. Dartmouth 11 9 10
10. Union 10 11 11
11. Princeton 8 10 9
12. Yale 12 12 12
Vermont still lacks depth, but they don't need it unless they get hurt with
Perrin, St. Louis, Thomas, and don't forget Ruid. Clarkson is still solid with
White, Houle, Pagnutti, D. Murphy, and a good freshman class - backup
goaltending is untested. SLU has all the talent that nobody knows about and a
strong presence with Owen between the pipes. Maybe it's just against Clarkson,
but Colgate has the ability to be a championship team. Harvard is overrated in
the coaches poll, but teams that suffer tragedies sometimes pull off amazing
feats. The Big Red showed they have the ability to win the big game, but they
are inconsistent. RPI (or is that Rensellaer) fans talked about a rebuilding
year last year and they did indeed rebuild but they still won't finish in the
top 4. Brown should separate istelf from the bottom four teams, who will fight
for the final 2 playoff spots. Yale and Princeton will be collecting the
poision ivy at the bottom (some drop for Princeton, which was an up and coming
program just two years ago).
Go Knights. (Golden and Black) - Bring Army back to the ECAC.
