The Friars defeated Brown in the annual Mayor's Cup game Monday night, 9-5,
as Providence defenseman Rob Gandreau recorded his sixth career hat trick
and winger Craig Darby added a pair of goals.  Tim Chase scored twice for
Brown.
 
Also, the Ottawa tournament first-round game between Trois Rivieres and St.
Lawrence (won by Trois Rivieres, 6-5) apparently went to double-overtime.
