Crazy time in Canton for two of the St. Lawrence players

St. Lawrence sophomore center Derek Ladouceur was severely beaten and
junior center Joel Prpic was suspended from school for a week due to off-ice
situations.
The two players were involved in two separate incidents during the week
of Feb. 18-25. Ladouceur's occurred off campus, while Prpic's occurred on
campus. "Ladouceur was beaten up really bad, a lot of facial injuries,
from an incident in town," said coach Joe Marsh of Ladouceur who played
sparingly in both games last weekend. "I don't have all the facts, so I'm
not going to say or do anything until I do." Prpic was suspended by the
university for an on campus altercation and missed both of the Feb. 23-24
games. "With Prpic, I think it was retaliatory to what happened with
Ladouceur," said Marsh, who's team is one point behind Vermont for first place
in the ECAC with two games left with two games to go against Colgate and
Cornell. "The school sent a message by suspending him for five days, and I
extended it to a week," said Marsh, who is in his 11th year as coach of the
Saints. "We've had a great year a it's just a distraction. I just want the
kids to keep everything in its proper perspective. We're not trying to sweep
it under the rug. We just want to do what we have to do and get it behind us
and get on with our season." Both players will be in the lineup this weekend.
Ladouceur has six goals and 33 assists in 28 games and Prpic has two goals
and nine assists in 27 games.
