I was in the CCHA for five years as a coach. I experienced two and
one ref systems. The one ref system is by far the best because one person
is in control of the flow of the game. Our ecac games are longer due to
more delays in conversation btween officals, and two people calling
penelties instead of one. It does not clean up the calls from behind. Our
game against Colgate took almost three hours. One offical
Stewert was not calling anything will James Cerbo called nine straight
minors. Two officals also allows officals to not accept resonsiblility for
their calls. Its to easy to say "it's not my call" Players can also read
one offical much better than two. Lastly the lines in ccha are called much
better than everywhere else. We played BU in hochey east MSU at munn and
CC in Denver and the best officating by far was in the ccha. Not better
officals but better system.
