Finally, after much aggravation I have been able to post an article
about Clarkson hockey.

Clarkson, currently stands in a four way tie for first place in the ECAC
with Vermont, Cornell, and St. Lawrence. The Golden Knights have played
two teams ranked in the top ten this season. They started the season by
travelling to Denver. Though leading in both games by 2 goals, they managed
to blow the leads and lose both games. The first one by a score of 4-2,
and the second one 4-3 in overtime. The following weekend, Clarkson came
home to Cheel Arena and hosted Bowling Green. Again, Clarkson played
BGSU tough on Friday night and still lost. Saturday night, though the
Knights did not fold. They finally played 60 minutes of hockey and came
through with a 5-3 victory. Then this past weekend, Clarkson started its
ECAC campaign.
The team travelled to Princeton on Friday night and beat the Tigers
by a score of 7-2. There was more than just excitement on the ice Friday
night, as a handful of Princeton students wanted to toy with the Clarkson
University Pep Band. The students some how stole the Clarkson University
Flag during the game. It resulted in a wild chase around the arena,
with Princeton's campus security finally retrieveing the flag for the band.
The flag came back severely damaged, and a new one has to be purchased. In
the middle of it all, was Clarkson's newest President Dr. Dennis Brown, who
was trampled by Clarkson students in their effort to retrieve the flag.
According to the Pep Band director up here, the Princeton Dean of Students
has been very cooperative and they expect a new flag very shortly.
On Saturday night, the team played Yale. Dan Murphy recorded his
first shutout of the season in a 3-0 victory for Clarkson, bringing their
overall record to 3-3 and 2-0 in the ECAC. Once the game ended, a small
fight did break out and one of the Yale players was given a game misconduct
and a one game automatic suspension.
Finally, this weekend, Clarkson will play host to their cross-town
rivals the St. Lawrence Skating Saints. We have beaten SLU the last 8
consecutive meetings, beginning in 1992.
As requested a week ago, that is the update to Clarkson for the moment.
